Accommodation

Housing represents an absolutely critical point of crisis intervention when it comes to domestic violence and child marriages. Too many women and girls are trapped in abusive and forced marriages due to the lack of adequate housing for them and their kids; were they to flee.

Over the last 12 years, FADVA has worked with local community leaders to build, staff and equip a total of 25 shelters across various countries thanks to generous donors like you.

In countries where we do not currently operate a shelter, we partner with local churches as a temporary solution. Our goal by the end of 2030 is to operate a fully functional shelter in each country to enable us better reach and provide resources to the women and girls in need.

Education

In Sub-Saharan Africa, a higher proportion of adolescent girls are in school than ever before. But the percentage of those who complete secondary education is still dismally low at 42%. Additionally, for those who are in school, educational gains are not realized as labor market outcomes for women, in part due to girls dropping out of school because of societal and cultural barriers.

FADVA offers grants and scholarships for young girls to pursue their education to the highest extent. Most girls in our program go on to graduate from college, most times making them the first college graduate from their region. FADVA currently sponsors over 500 girls at prestigious universities around the world.

Training

FADVA currently operates 21 vocational training programs for adults and 13 all girl schools for children and victims of child marriages in various countries. Because boys don't face similar challenges as their female counterparts, they attend local public schools.

In our vocational programs, women learn a trade of their choice, basic reading, writing and arithmetic skills

At the end of the 9-month program, they are paired with a mentor to help  setup their own business or get a job within their trade, enabling them to be self sufficient within a year of getting into the program.

Over the next 10 years, we plan on expanding our horizons into all countries across the continent to enable us reach more women and children.

NOW MORE THAN EVER, WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT!

Over the years, each and everyone of you who has supported us either through donations or volunteering, has played a pivotal role in a woman's life who otherwise might have been another sad statistic. We are extremely appreciative of everything and promise to keep working hard to put an end to violence against women around the world.

This women's day, we are launching our biggest campaign ever; which will unlock newer heights in reporting and responding to domestic violence and child marriages. Our goal is to establish a reporting hotline across all 54 countries, dedicated entirely for reporting and responding to domestic violence calls.

Each location will be staffed 24 hours, 7 days a week and equipped with resources for responding and transporting women away from their abusers. But none of this will be possible without you. That's why we are asking for your support to help us reach our project goal of $380,000.00 to make all this possible.
